Hey, how are you? It’s been too long, I know. I thought that it’s only right to do a little post here because it’s the new year and I need to update you. Grab a cup of tea, it could get lengthy.
Things got a little crazy last year; well to be precise I planned a wedding and got married to my best mate in 6 days so I guess my brain has been recovering ever since.
*looks out window, gets caught up*
I am crazy and he doesn’t mind my spontaneous advances but getting married in 6 days is a little different to when we decorated the living room a week before Christmas. We’re both nuts and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The wedding wasn’t as completely random as it sounds, Jake’s been the apple of my eye since nursery and we’ve been on our journey since we were 15 – my teenage glow up was pretty major.
Anyway, back to why I started writing this. The title reads “New Year, Same Me” and this really shouldn’t be a shock because I’m not Cinderella and my life will never take a drastic turn by midnight.
“Do you have any New Years resolutions?”
As a matter of fact, I do.
Resolution number 1
Everyone that knows me has said to me at one point or another “you’re too kind” or “you’re too nice” as their response to when something bad has happened. What does that even mean? I don’t want to confuse myself any more with that question so instead, I’ve decided to make it my full time job to be more kind and nice. I’ve decided that I’m going to try to commit myself to an act of kindness every day. It actually hasn’t been that hard, honest. We’re now on day 7 and so far I’ve shouted “Happy New Year” to a stranger in the park, rescued an abandoned dog and rehomed her with my sister in law and given my neighbour a scarf. I wonder what today will bring?
Resolution number 2
I was watching “This is Us” over Christmas and I just fell in love with Rebecca’s style; there was one scene where her and Jack meet for the first time when she’s singing in a bar and I adored her dress. It was a backless number in emerald green and it dawned on me that I’ve never worn a backless dress. So my second New Years resolution is to wear a backless dress, comfortably. Not under a coat or anything else, just me strutting my stuff in a backless dress.
Resolution number 3
Last year, things were a little too serious and I didn’t really let me hair down in true Ronnie form. I drank way less than I ever have in my adult years and became a little bit of a bore. I am in no way advertising alcohol as a means of fun but I did avoid it like the plague. This year, I’m gonna go back to letting my hair down and having more fun and laugh harder.
Anyway, I must dash, I’ve got a lunch date with bae and I’m not even ready yet.
What do you have planned for the year ahead? Do you know anyone I should follow to get inspiration for my backless number? Let me know in the comments below.
Have a wonderful Sunday, lovelies x
