Ever wanted to make homemade hot chocolate but thought it was too much hassle? This easy recipe is quick to make and leaves enough to store away for next time.
When you think of Christmas, whats the first beverage you think of? Non alcoholic obviously (don’t worry the cocktail recipes are coming soon – I’ve got you!), if it wasn’t hot chocolate it should have been. I remember watching Jamie do this one on the TV, he made it outdoors making this recipe more lustful and I knew I needed it in my life. I’ve made a few tweaks and shared this as my second post for my 12 days of blogmas.
Ingredients (to serve 4):
- 2 pints of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk
- a drop of double cream
- whipped cream
For the hot chocolate mix:
- 2 tablespoons of Horlicks
- 2 tablespoons of cornflour
- 3 tablespoons of icing sugar
- 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 pinches of cinnamon
- 100g of Cadbury’s chocolate
Step 1: Add all of the hot chocolate mix bar the Cadbury’s chocolate to a bowl and stir in well so its all blended in together.
Step 2: Add the milk and double cream into a saucepan and put it on a medium heat until it’s almost boiling, then add 10 heaped tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix to the saucepan and whisk.
Step 3: Grate the chocolate over the saucepan and whisk again until all the ingredients are combined to a rich and thick consistency.
Step 4: Serve hot, then layer with whipped cream, marshmallows and some grated chocolate.
