Banana and Nutella Pancakes

Jazz up the tradional pancake this Shrove Tuesday with these tasty banana and Nutella pancakes. 

Pancake Day was created for those who always say the diet starts Monday, i.e Me but without the guilt.  We are basically allowed to pack ourselves with sugar before we give up something for a month or so – not bad!  In all seriousness though, I will try and give up something, possibly sweets or chocolate as I’ve developed the worst sweet tooth since Christmas – another guilt free eating period, sigh. 

I wanted to make this post a full recipe on how to make my pancakes but I just throw everything together and don’t measure anything, so I’m working on that and will update this post soon. In the meantime, you can just adapt your regular pancake mixture with these simple steps. I’ve provided a similar recipe to mine here.

*I made fluffy and classic style pancakes as I prefer mine thicker. To achieve a classic style, simply add more milk to make the mixture thinner. 


  • Plain flour
  • Eggs
  • Caster sugar
  • Milk 
  • 2 smashed bananas

Nutella sauce: 

  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 heaped tablespoon of Nutella 
  • A pinch of salt

To garnish: 

  • A dust of icing sugar

Step 1: smash up 2 bananas with a fork and add to your normal pancake mix, mine are slightly thicker so I’ve found a recipe that is similar to mine here. Whisk together and cook as normal. 

Step 2: To make the Nutella sauce, add the milk, Nutella and salt to a saucepan stir together until a thicker consistency is achieved. 

Step 3: Drizlle the sauce on top of the pancakes and dust with some icing sugar. Serve with extra banana and strawberries.
